This sparkly clean demi parure, small set, includes a HOBE necklace and matching earrings. The necklace has 9 links that are joined together with a link chain on the back, and attached to each separate link. All the stones are prong set.
There are round, faceted, aurora borealis stones that are about ½" across, with similarly sized clear rhinestones. All of these are enhanced by a band of glass stones across the center. The necklace is unmarked, but is an exact match to the marked earrings. All the luscious stones are set in gold tone findings.
As an added note .... I have read that Hobe used an exclusive 22K electro-plating process. Their gold plating is exceptional. Please remember Hobe jewelry was only sold in expensive stores and is of the highest designer quality materials. This set is no exception!
The clip earrings duplicate the look of the necklace. One earring is simply marked PAT PEND, while the other earring carries the Hobe signature. They have the same larger stones as the necklace. I have close-up pictures so please enlarge and look them over!
ERA: This particular mark is the "pre" copyright mark. This mark was first used in 1926....so this is an older set!
CONDITION: Very, very good pre-owned condition. Sparkly ... no dull stones, and ready to wear!
SIZE: The necklace is adjustable from about 14" to 17" long. It is approximately 1" wide. The earrings are about 1" by 1 1/8".
HISTORY: The company was founded by Jacques Hobe, in 1883 in France. After WW-ll William Hobe', the son, moved the company to the U.S.A. In California he made jewelry for the Ziegfeld Follies, and catered to the Hollywood crowd. Hobe jewelry is still being made, but has nothing to do with the original family. Hobe provided jewelry to high end department stores and expensive boutiques. It was the "darling" of Hollywood starlets in the 50's.
