Maker: Hans Andersen Brendekilde (Danish, 1857-1942)

Brendekilde began his career as a social realist but his subjects evolved into more religious and idyllic village scenes. He studied sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts but changed to painting in 1881.
