This fine quality, antique, Scandinavian small scale, side table was used fireside for dining and drinking. They are commonly called tavern tables because of their popularity in taverns as well as homes. This example has an oval top, with round, turned legs and shows the wear of many feet on the curved X-stretcher. The ball feet are a later addition. The red finish is mostly original but was cleaned at some point. This is a scarce find, and is useful today as it was over 200 years ago.
