This very long, antique, 19th century, Chinese altar table was crafted with a floating panel top, everted flanges, a moulded apron and very decorative, carved and pierced spandrels that display elaborate foliage. The straight, beaded side legs flank side panels that are also pierced and carved; the apron with pierced begonia design and the lower panel with foliage similar to the spandrels. A dressy piece, retaining much of the oxblood lacquered finish, it makes a wonderful console table.
