A vintage landscape etching of a cliffside in Black Canyon in Gunnison National Park, Colorado. There is another variation of this engraving of Black Canyon.
Originally from Illinois, in 1922 Byxbe began making annual summer trips to Estes Park, Colorado. In 1930, he established a studio there, selling etchings of landscapes and resident's cabins for Christmas cards. He achieved national success for his work and had a one man show at the Smithsonian (1937-38). In the late 1930s he moved permanently to Estes Park. He was a member of the Chicago Society of Etchers.
