Spode, Josiah Spode (Stoke, Staffordshire, c. 1762-present)
Inspired by Chinese ceramics, this beautiful and very scarce serving piece was deftly crafted in a lovely, slightly scalloped shape, with an unusually fine meat tree and deep well. It features expertly executed overglaze enamelling. Printed mark: Spode/Stone-China (used c. 1805-30). Pattern: Willis with gold fleur-de-lys border (#2147).
