A charming, antique, head and shoulders portrait painting of two Grand Griffon Vendéen dogs in profile. This type of scent hound dog was originally bred for hunting in the 16th century, in the Vendee region of France. This pair displays the characteristic long ears, pronounced nose and white and brown coloring. Signed and dated (lower left): Ch. Endrès. 99. With a period gilt gesso frame.
