Toyokuni I was one the heads of the famous Utagawa school of Japanese woodblock designers. A prolific artist, he achieved great fame and success during his lifetime. Toyokuni was well known for his theater images as well asbijinga (a general term for images of beautiful women in Japanese art). Condition note: some wear on dust cover, frame chipped, faded, acid damage from frame mat.
