This rather large, patinated bronze mortar was crafted with double handles in the style of the 17th century. It features frescoes of human figures in concentric borders, and the inscription: HENRYCK TER HORST ME FECYT AO 1638 (Made by HENRYCK TER HORST in 1638). It makes an impressive addition for a collector of mortars, but is also handsome as a decorative accessory. Note: an early, antique 19th century model of a 17th century mortar.
