This very early antique Chinese chair displays the classic mitered and paneled seat and ogee aprons that extend in flanges down the legs. It retains much of an old, black lacquer finish and, on the under side, traces of the original red lacquer on hemp. This is a wonderful example of the form and craftsmanship of the era.
