An antique, 19th century, Scandinavian decorative table-top candle screen with a framed hand painted, watercolor on paper landscape scene by Andreas Juuel, all on an adjustable pedestal stand. There are two paintings layered so that when it held near a light source, a hidden small moon appears on the horizon.
Juuel was primarily a landscape painter, trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and trained to paint on porcelain at Royal Copenhagen. He headed the Bing & Grondahl painting team and was later promoted to Technical director in 1856 after the sudden death of Grondahl.
