Speculoos (or Speculaas) is a traditional, spiced shortbread cookie made in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and other countries around the St. Nicholas feast and Christmas holiday. This folk art, cookie mold is carved in birch and displays an elderly woman with a prominent nose and chin, standing in 19th century dress with her parasol. This piece would be great in a country kitchen or for holiday decor. Note: sold to benefit the Denver Art Museum (Denver, CO).
