A Burmese interpretation of the Victorian settee, this antique bench is ornately hand carved, and the seat displays an elaborate, pierced crest rail in an involved, foliate pattern, accented with gadroon borders. The rolled arms are faced with horse figures, and the legs with snakes. Burmese furniture carvers during the Colonial period are known for this type of intricate pierced carving.
