Perhaps of naval origin, this antique table-top desk is for the writing and storage of correspondence for a high ranking official. This diminutive piece features an elaborately carved, pierced gallery top (later addition), above a fall front desk; the interior fitted with compartments and drawers. The exterior features drawers (one replaced) with traditional recessed brass campaign bails. The base is flanked by freestanding columns, with detailed moulding throughout. Together with keys.
