An antique pair of 19th century Chinese foo dog architectural or garden statues on integral plinths.
These animal figures are called Fu Lions or Fu or Foo Dogs. They are believed to have powerful, mythical protective powers and traditionally stood guard in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, temples and the homes of the wealthy. This antique pair of foo dogs are carved in opposing seated poses and sit on tall plinths with grinning smiles.
