Attributed to Albert Sterner (American, 1863-1946)
This sketch illustrates a gentleman at his mirror tying his tie. Another drawing is visible on the backside but we have not removed it from the frame. Sterner achieved international success as an lithographer, illustrator and painter. His work is represented in numerous institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Brooklyn Museum, the Carnegie Institute (Pittsburgh) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto). He is known for his nudes and portraits but his work also includes landscapes, still-life and religious subjects.
