This nomadic carpet combines Qashqai elements including the ivory border with chained octagons and striped chessboard ends;with the dark brown warps of the Khamseh tribal group. The rich dark indigo field shows an offset large lattice pattern of doubly hooked reserves enclosing flowers and leafy stems. Small botehs decorate the minor borders.
The broad palette includes light blue, red, cream, camel yellow and dark brown. The handle is pliable. The weave is in symmetric knots. All wool construction.
The large flower heads resemble classical "Crivelli Stars" in early Turkish rugs. The general pattern is shared with Luri nomadic rugs. The rug shows some wear commensurate to age,but it is still a solid rug. This piece has been cleaned professionally and is free of any odors or stains.
