A pendant in colour and design to # 15860,but smaller in dimensions, this rug uses a separate floral panel above a red field displaying a dragon amid colourful clouds, over mountain and frothy waves. The scaly dragon is not fierce, but amusingly goofy. The waves follow the rainbow band convention so frequently seen on Chinese rugs and textiles. The deep blue main border has a floral arabesque scroll in a contrasting lighter blue.
The wool originated in Tibet or Mongolia, and is of excellent quality. As a result, the condition is very good overall.Rug no.s 15859 & 15860 can be used together or separately,as exotic accents.Few pairs of Art Deco Chinese rugs have survived intact. This rug has been cleaned professionally and is totally free of any odors or stains. For further information please email us or call us at 212-268-5876.
