For sale I have a beautiful vase made by Roseville Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern name is know as "Wisteria" and it is a highly sought after pattern by Roseville Pottery collectors. It is done in their predominately blue tone background color. This is the most desirable of the Wisteria glazes. The vase is a large size as it stands 7" tall and is 6 1/4" in diameter outside handles measurement.

The vase displays a somewhat corseted exaggerated shoulder form with 2 applied handles. It has a wonderful blue drip glaze on a sandy colored tree bark textured background glaze. The glaze is wonderfully executed. It is accented with embossed lilac wisteria's drooping down from a cluster of sage green leaves surrounding the shoulder of the vase. This is true for the opposite side of the vase as well. The piece displays two wonderfully applied triangular shaped handles that start just under the top lip and attach to the shoulder of the vessel. These are done in a mottled caramel, butterscotch glaze with a touch of the deep blue over glaze.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks, dings. The piece is unsigned, but does have writing on the bottom in a red grease pencil that reads "634". This is the shape number in the Roseville catalog for this vase. There is a "1 3 " or letter "M" depending how you look at it. I believe these to be the finishers mark.

This piece is known as 634-7" in the Roseville catalog and was made circa 1937. Those of you who collect this pattern will gladly welcome this addition. Truly a great example to add to your Wisteria collection.
