For sale is a lovely piece of crystal made by R Lalique of Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace-Lorraine, France. This wonderful piece of R Lalique art glass is known as the "Chicoree" opalescent bowl. The bowl has some size as it stands 3 5/16" tall and is 9 5/16" in diameter from the outside top edge measurement.
This bowl displays a wonderful pattern on a opalescent background glass of a waving Fern leaves surrounding the bowl. The detail is sharp and crisp. This is R Lalique's famed opalescent glass that gives that distinct cool blue tone under the right lighting. This is the larger size bowl with the rim diameter at just over 9.25 inches. I have taken pictures of this opalescent bowl on 2 different background textures to show the true beauty of the bowl.
This opalescent bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings. Other than some minor scratches it has no excuses to be made. It is signed on the bottom with and stenciled "R. Lalique" signature along with the engraved "France" script mark. This piece has substantial weight for its size. Book reference Marcilhac 3213 first introduced in 1921. This is an original early R Lalique bowl from the period circa 1925-26 based on the mark.
