For sale is a very nice piece of art glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is more commonly known as a Jade Green and Alabaster "Scalloped Ribbed" flower vase. This beautiful vase is large as it stands 9" tall and the top opening is 6" outside measurement. The round foot has a diameter of 4 7/8".
The vase displays a beautiful jade green scalloped and vertically ribbed body with a round alabaster foot. This round alabaster foot is attached in a way that it appears to have been blown as one solid piece as the fusing of the two jades is executed just wonderfully. They are fused together to appear as only one piece was blown, yet it is actually a two part vase. At the bottom where the body meets the alabaster foot you can see how the Jade Green bleeds right into the alabaster.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, or dings. The top rim is irregular and shows a polished flat surface finish. The vase is not signed but there is no doubt as to who made this vase. It is a well documented form and is known as shape number "7331" in the Steuben catalog of shapes. This is a quality piece of art glass and will enhance any art glass collection. Those of you who collect Steuben vases and want a nice example in jade and alabaster do not want to miss this opportunity.
This piece was made Circa 1915-1925 during the Frederick Carder years.
