An absolutely beautiful example of the Minton Majolica 'Indian' Vase c.1876. The bright turquoise glazed body decorated with polychrome Chinese ornament including blossoms, birds and branches.
Impressed 'Minton's' shape number: '203' date for '1876'.
This is the nicest example of the design that I have ever seen, the glazes are so bright and the modelling sharp.
I think it is a very powerful design, the mixture of the deep colours against the bright turquoise is so attractive, also love the orange and cobalt blue banding around the top edge.
I would recommend this vase to any serious Majolica collector...it is a wonderful example in wonderful condition.
