This is a vintage pool hall device designed to dispense three billiard balls and keep track of the time the balls are in use. It has a clock mechanism activated by opening the front door, when the door is shut a bell sounds and time of use is visible at the front presumably so the proprietor can charge the appropriate rental amount. Although called a “Taxi Billard” it has no association to taxi cabs except that it resembles French taxi meters of that era. It comes with two original keys. One to wind the clock, and the other to reset the door mechanism. Three billiard balls are included as well. It can be mounted on a wall or sit on a counter top. Excellent condition.
The device is made of fairly heavy metal weighing about 13lbs. Size is 11” X 4” X 9”
