This is a hundred year old two piece sad iron. These type of irons were pointed only at one end and used to iron sleeves and often called flounce irons. Length is 8 inches and weight is about 12 lbs. It has a detachable handle section and a solid cast iron base. The base piece is labeled as “Sensible No. 5”and was manufactured near the turn of the century by the Colebrookdale Iron Company in Pottstown, PA. Excellent condition with some slight wear on the wooden handle.
