This is a three-cigarette reel counter-top gambling device you don’t see very often. Made by Daval Mfg. in the early 1930-40’s, the Marvel is a trade stimulator that worked on a penny and gave the player a chance to win packs of cigarettes. This Marvel is in restored and very nice condition. It has its original Daval Co. tag at the top and Bakelite red handle and the interior is clean. It has a working lock and key. If the player succeeds in getting three matching cigarette symbols, the machine dispenses a quarter size token that would have been good for 1.2, or 3 free pack of cigarettes. There are about 3 of these coins or tokens that are included with the machine. (Please see the photos). There is also a small window at the right side that shows the last coin played.
The mechanism on this machine works well however it doesn’t always pay out the token when it should. I believe that the problem is with the reel labels being mismatched. It may need a set of new labels and some work to get it to pay out properly. Size is approx 11" tall / 9" deep / 8" wide.
