This is an antique coffee roaster heated by gas and rotated by hand. The roaster was manufactured in Mexico City. It is labeled with a tag with a 1918 patent date. The tag reads
“Tostador Cucalay Patente 10336 Del 4 Agril 1918 Serie A No 615 Cucalay Hno. Apartado Postal 2564 Mexico DF”.
The roaster has a burner tube on the inside that connects to a gas line through a valve at the left side. There are baffles on the inside of the drum to agitate the beans as the handle is rotated. Cast iron base with a metal drum. The wooden handle may have been replaced.
Drum size is about 9” X 6”.
