This is a Rimplex 1920's era spare tire mounting bracket designed to be mounted on the back of an antique automobile. The bracket is made of cast iron and measures about 12 1/2” in length. It will hold 2 balloon type tires. Manufactured by Tripp-Secord & Co. in Detroit. Also included is a copy of an 1924 ad from Motor Age magazine advertising the product. The bracket is labeled as “Rimplex Spare Tire Carrier 4 1/2in. S.S. Type also 5.25 & 8.20 Balloon”.
