Beautifully decorated French table clock created in 1855
The movement of the clock has a beautiful stamp from Japy Freres en cie. It further says: Gde med. D’honneur 1855. It chimes beautifully every half and full hour. It has been checked and cleaned by a professional clockmaker. It is complete (it has its key and pendulum).
This is a beautiful antique French pendulum. It is very typical for the 19th century, or to be more specific, for the Louis XVI period and style that this work of art was made in. It has been fully checked and oiled by a professional clockmaker, and works perfectly, it chimes every half and whole hour.
The movement was placed in the frame's midst, meaning that it is surrounded by some of the most beautifully gild forms ever.
The measurements of this clock are about:
•CM: 49 high x 40 width.
•iNCH: 19 high x 16 width
On top of the clock we see two beautifully crafted putties. One is holding grapes and a tambourine in his hand and the other holds an urn . The clock was recently re-gild. You can see at picture number 5 what it looked like before the re-gilding. We see beautiful fruit trees with a lot of fruits at each side of the clock.
The dial was made from French Sevres porcelain, and the details of the item overall are mesmerizing. The clock is beautiful decorated with different pieces of French Sevres porcelain in nice quality.
The porcelain is very fine painted with beautiful hand painted images of French gardens of the 19th century.
The clock is in very high quality, it is unique and it is the opportunity to have an unique antique piece of antique in your house.
The clock has an old small restoration at the lower part of one of the trees. Please take a look at the photos, it is not clearly visible.
The movement has a beautiful stamp, showing the brand of this clock 'Japy freres en cie.' It further says: Gde med. D'Honneur 1855
This is further explained in the coming passage, and shows that this clock is a 100% authentic and original. I sell the clock as it is on the photo.
Some information about the maker:
The company was, and probably still is a pioneer in the field of the fabrication of industrial timepieces .Adolphe Japy has had a vast influence on the industrial development of the mass production of clocks and timepieces. Adolphe was an important man, he was a member of the French Légion d'Honneur and was the mayor of Beaucourt a couple of times. He died in 1897 in Paris. The works of Japy are to be seen as the top quality works of the industrial French movements.
