This beautiful French Louis XVI style clock set (clock+ two candelabras) was created around 1850.
The clock and two candelabras were made from beautifully crafted heavy quality bronze, beautifully decorated with many flowery patters and branch like forms and beautiful figurines all adding up to that Louis XVI style.
The Movement was placed in the frame's midst, meaning that it is surrounded by some of the most beautifully authentic gilded bronze forms ever. On both the left and right of the clock we see two figurines of women with wings. These truly show the quality of the maker, the level of detail in which they were created is magnificent. There is also a head to be found just above the movement, once again beautifully crafted and magnificently real. In its midst we find the movement.
The dial has parts that were made from enamel cartouches, surrounded by gilded bronze, and the details of the item overall are mesmerizing. All the flowery patterns are beautifully crafted, and the animal (lion) legs are magnificent. The clock has its key and pendulum, so it is complete. You will have a perfect quality clock!
The pedestal on which this beautiful clock rests is rather sophisticated as well. We find that the Louis XVI style is very curvy and beautifully artistic, and for that to be accompanied by the stark rectangular strong forms of the pedestal on which it all rests creates a very strong image and work of true art.
It chimes beautifully every half and full hour. It has been checked and cleaned by a professional clock maker. It works perfectly fine.
The measurements are:
•Clock: 60 cm high x 38 cm wide x 18 cm deep
• 24 inch high x 15 inch wide x 7 inch deep
•Candelabras: 58 cm high x 17 cm wide x 17 cm deep
• 23 inch high x 7 inch wide x 7 inch deep
Next to this beautiful clock we find two candelabras. These can hold four candles (three on the sides and one on top if you take off the top lid). Once again beautifully decorated, with a vase on a square pedestal and a medallion in the pedestals midst. They also rest on four lion paws.
This 100% authentic and this complete set would suit in any kind of room. It is very sophisticated, very useful in practice, and will always be worth its money. It was made in a very heavy quality.
The movement of this clock has two stamps;
•Japy freres.' It further says: 1855 Medaille 1844-1849.
•J. Lefebvre Fils Paris, his stamp is also present at the pendulum, please check the pictures.
*Frederic Japy (1749-1812) was the founder of the clocks and the watch company Japy freres en cie, Beaucourt, France. He was clock maker and an inventor. The company was, and probably still is a pioneer in the field of the fabrication of industrial movements. Adolph Japy has had a vast influence on the industrial development of the mass production of clocks and movements. Adolph was an important man, he was a member of the French Légion d'Honneur and was the mayor of Beaucourt a couple of times. He died in 1897 in Paris. The works of Japy are to be seen as the top quality works of the industrial French movements.
