This coin is a Bar Kochba coin (133-34 AD) framed in 18k gold. There is a grape leaf on the front and reads, “For the Freedom/Liberty of Jerusalem”. The reverse is a palm tree and reads, “Shimon”, who was the leader of the rebellion against Roman occupation of Israel in the Second Jewish War. Often these coins were originally Roman coins that were cleaned and overstruck with the Jews’ diecasts. Talk about revenge!
