A beautiful large Davenport Ironstone Plate in Imari Colors. This plate measures 10 1/4 inches in diameter and is in wonderful condition. Even the gold on the edge shows little wear. It must have spent most of its life in a cabinet. The plate is entirely hand decorated including the underglaze blue. It depicts a church and exotic flowers and has a floral border. The Staffordshire Pottery of Davenport was operating from 1793 to 1887. Marks of this type were used between 1820 and 1860. This plate is a good example of the transition between the Oriental inspired patterns and the more European patterns.
