A Beautiful Ironstone Platter in the Tasmania Pattern. This platter has flow blue underglaze and is hand colored overglaze with enamel colors and gilt. It measures approximately 13 1/4 inches by 11 inches and is in excellent condition for its age with only slight loss to the overglaze colors. It is marked with both a blue printed mark and an impressed monogram for the Staffordshire Pottery of Thomas Dimmock (1828 to 1859), circa 1845. The scene depicts an exotic bird with flowers and foliage and a border of flowers and butterflies. Tasmania was a far off exotic place in 1845. I think it still is today!
