A very nicely printed Red and White Transferware Platter in the Oriental Pattern. This platter measures approximately 16 1/2 inches by 14 inches and depicts and exotic garden scene with three people under an umbrella and surrounded by a wide floral border. The back is marked with the pattern name, Oriental. The platter is in very good condition for its age with expected light crazing to the glaze and some small areas of light staining. I have had this pattern before, but never with a makers mark. Surprising, because it is so well done! I would date this platter between 1820 and 1840 and made by one of the shorter lived Staffordshire Potteries.
