A whimsical 19th Century Staffordshire Pottery Hen on Nest Egg Tureen. This tureen measures approximately 9 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches and is 7 1/2 inches high at the tail. Tureens like these were used to serve hard and soft boiled eggs. It is very nicely molded with good detail to the feathers and basket weave base. Overglaze coloring was done by hand. Condition is very good with only slight wear to color and moderate to heavy crazing to glaze.
