A very interesting hand carved bear holding a honey pot advertising BEST DEVON HONEY. Probably made in the Black Forest area as an advertising item promoting the honey producers of Devon, England. It is also possible that it was made locally in England. Either way it is a wonderfully whimsical piece of advertising. The bear measures approximately 3 3/4 inches in height and is about 4 3/4 inches long. This piece will date from the late 19th to the early 20th century and is in very good original condition with one age crack on the bears left side. The bear retains the original paint around the mouth, ears and claws.
