This is an early 20th century French table top frame. The piece holds two hand painted portraits of a classical woman and a regal gentleman. I am not sure if they are people of note or just examples of the aristocracy of their era. The painting of the gentleman is signed on the right side (see close-up). I took his portrait out of the frame and it appears that the paintings are on celluloid.
The frame is 4-3/8” high and 5-1/4” wide. The paintings are 1-3/4” by 1-3/8” by sight. The frame stands upright securely on its easel back, and is in good condition as seen in the photographs.
