I am offering an English stoneware plate that was made by James and Ralph Clews in the early 1880's. They were known for their quality Staffordshire transfer ware designs. This plate shows an intricate floral pattern with a delicate butterfly that is their Tuscan Rose pattern.
The plate is 10-1/2“ in diameter and is impressed on the backside “CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE”. There are some original imperfections on the side of the plate where it appears to have touched something prior to firing that created three indentations. There are also two small chips on the base foot of the plate and minor knife marks on the top. Please see these issues in the photos.
Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the item or pricing. Ruby Lane allows for up to nine photographs so please be sure to scroll through all the using the arrows on the large photo. Some may not be shown in the thumbnail shots. Thank you for looking at my listings.
