A wonderful long translucent/transparent opera length excellent quality jade ( jadeite ) necklace comprising 68 well-matched, simply strung large beads, 11 mm in diameter, set with a 5 cm long jadeite butterfly pendant, smaller jadeite beads and a few small gold-colored beads, either gold washed, or possibly gold.
Fresh from an estate, this necklace was purchased in Asia in either the 1960's or the 1970's and is typical of the materials and styles of that period. The jade beads are translucent to transparent and the butterfly translucent -- it is possible to see lines of type through the butterfly, but not to decipher them (please see photos). The color is a pale celadon green which we figure falls into the "nen lv" 嫩绿 category; and the "water" or quality of the stone into the "nuo hua" 糯 category.
Length: approx 35". Condition: very light normal wear; otherwise no damage, restoration or repair that we can spot.
