This is the first of two Lotus jars we are listing with Ruby Lane this week. Standing approximately 13" high, it has a stunning rendition of a lotus garden on one side, and black calligraphy on the reverse, including the date (1920) and artist's name, Zou Hesheng 邹和胜 .
The base has a partial jianding seal indicating legal export from the PRC. Condition: usual firing flaws and glaze pits, including a very happy butterfly-shaped one on the shoulder. There is loss to the footring, but this appears to have been in the firing. Nice light genuine wear to the glaze, otherwise no damage, restoration or repair that we can spot.
This jar makes an assembled and very handsome pair with the other one we have on offer and the last photo shows them side by side. We are offering a 10% discount if both lotus jars are purchased at the same time by the same customer. In the interests of safety, we will pack and ship the jars separately. Owing to their size, the shipping fee includes a $5 packing fee. If the total/shipping is less than our estimate, we will reimburse the difference.
Texas buyers please note that sales tax will be collected either by Ruby Lane or by us.
