This is the first of two scenes from an antique, late Qing / early Republic Chinese album, both of which were framed separately in Bombay, India around 1941. Representing 3 characters, one most likely a Boddhisatva holding a white lotus, this is ink and color on silk, mounted on paper and bordered with silk. We have removed this from the original frame in order to inspect it, however all framing material is intact -- the wood frame needs repair. Leaf size: approx 16 1/2" x 12 1/2". The leaf was backed with a 1941 newspaper from Bombay, (Mumbai), India, so we surmise that the leaves were framed around that time. To see the item as it would appear framed, please view the second leaf.
Condition: some staining and discoloration, particularly to the silk borders. Some very slight loss of white pigment. Otherwise, no damage, restoration or repair that we can spot. We have quoted shipping price unframed. Shipped framed, the price is $20.
