Pot lid is called WAR. These pot lids were made in Victorian England in the mid to late 1800’s. A Mr Pratt came up with the ingenious idea to make decorative pots to store meat, spreads or medicinal creams. They now dig these pots up in England. Usually the pots and lids are separated or part is broken. The lids are the most treasured with their beautiful designs. This lid has a lithograph by Sir Edward Landseer. There is a chip on the back rim which does not show on the front. This is very consistent with the age. The I’d has an old plate hanger.
