Black Forest has a hand carved shelf with a bear’s head holding the shelf up. The shelf is heavily carved with oak leaves. The bear shows great detail from the hair to the face. Bears are always a special theme of Black Forest carvings. This is very unique since the Bear’s Head is holding up the shelf. This piece would have been made in Switzerland, Germany or Austria. It was probably carved in the late 1800’s. This Black Forest piece is in very good condition. We bought this on a buying trip in Europe.
