This is an original Art Deco lithograph that appeared as an insert in a 1920 edition of the French periodical Eros. It is entitled “Belle de Nuit” which means “Lady of the Night”. It was illustrated by a well-known artist of the period, Leo Fontan. Fontan was a recognized illustrator whose work appeared in popular magazines such as La Vie Parisienne and Le Sourire. He was an acclaimed artist who participated in the 1925 l’Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris which ushered in the Art Deco movement. This lithograph has a beautiful color palette of rich warm hues of lush reds and green. It captures the sensuous softness of femininity. You can sense the luscious and passionate pleasures it evokes. This lithograph would work well in a bathroom, dressing room or bedroom and it compliments another lithograph we are offering; see NR146.
