This vintage French advertisement print is for Dubonnet, a well-known liqueur aperetif. It is an iconic image which was created by the famous posterist, AM Cassandre. The “Dubonnet man” has become a classic image recognizable worldwide. Cassandre is known for his strong architectural graphic designs. He was influenced by Cubism and Art Deco. He also utilized strong typographic elements in his designs and created new typefaces, the most famous of which was the YSL logo for Yves Saint Laurent. This strong vibrant image is a wonderful print that would work well in a bar setting, kitchen or dining area where family and friends enjoy good food, celebrate happy occasions or simply savor the taste of a fine spirit. This print is a prime example of the French propensity for style, flair and pizzazz in advertising art. It was originally published in a 1937 French periodical. Excellent vivid coloring. Image size is 10 x 13 inches in size. It is signed by Cassandre. It is original to that date and NOT a recent reproduction. A+ condition; comes custom matted in a neutral 16 x 20 inch mat that works perfectly in a standard size frame. (See companion prints offered in our shop.)
