We recently purchased a grouping of phototypes of engravings by Hector Giacomelli (1822-1904). Published in Paris in the late 1800s. Giacomelli is known for his depictions of birds in their natural habitats. Phototype was a photographic process that created beautiful and elegant tonal images using metal plates. This phototype has a wonderful quality. Excellent condition. Take a minute to study the images posted. Entitled “Oiseaux Papillons et Lilas”, it feautures birds nested among lilac blossoms with a visiting buttterfly. Signed in lower left corner. 9.75 x 12.5 inches in size.
