RARE BEAUTY! THis is an original Art Nouveau French chromolithograph that dates to c1880s. It comes from an unbound portfolio called La Flore Décorative which contained decorative plates of Art Nouveau designs. This print is entitled “Nympheacees", better known to us as "water lilies”;. The chromolithograph is numbered (Pl. 26) Typical of Art Nouveau, it showcases the floral and fauna motifs that served as inspiration to various decorative forms such as metal works, ceramic ware, tapestries, murals, sculptures, etc. The print is pristine and clean. Note the swans, nude, and floral patterning. The colors are soft pastels: light teal, blue, pink and yellow. This is a very special find as this portfolio was originally produced in very limited circulation. Because of their beauty and appeal, these images are often reproduced to be sold today. This is an ORIGINAL! It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. It is a large print, 10 x 13; the overall plate size is 18 x 13 1/4 inches to the exterior edges.
