Unusually RARE! This image has wonderful detail! It is a 1900 lithograph that came from an unbound French portfolio, Le Journal de la Decoration, that featured decorative designs for inspiration in home decor. This is a "cartouche" which is described as a carved tablet representative of a scroll and used ornamentally, frequently in an oval format. This image features "over-the-top" Louis XV styling flourishes surrounding a botanical spray. The ornate silver scrolled frame is done in a metallic silver ink which is highly unusual and specific to this time period. Note the brushwork! The botanical is set against a gray-green tone background. The lithographic technique captures incredible quality and detailing. Excellent condition with no age markings or discoloration. 9.5 x 13.5 inches in size.
