This is a fabulous French vintage Art Deco fashion print from 1926. It is illustrated and signed by George LePape, one of the leading Art Deco French fashion illustrators of the time. LaPape became well known when he collaborated with the designer extraordinaire, Paul Poiret. He then became a sensation of his own, known especially for his elongated female forms and simple elegant designs. He worked extensively for haute couture magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. This fashion print epitomizes the elegance and stylized fashion of a Chantal designed evening coat. Entitled “Le Manteau d’Or” it features an elegant woman ready for a night out on the town with her escort. Note the details and styling: they speak to the Art Deco fashionista.
The print is pristine! It is signed by LePape and dated 1926. It is original to the date and NOT a recent reproduction. It is 7 ½ x 10 inches in size. It is custom matted in a neutral 16 x 20 inch mat which works perfectly in a standard size frame. Please allow time for matting.
