This is a rare Art Deco story illustration that originally appeared in a 1929 French magazine. It was illustrated by the well-known Art Deco illustrator, A.E.Marty. A.E.Marty was highly regarded at the time; he was appointed on the jury for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, from which the Art Deco movement took its name. His work appeared in high styled fashion magazines of the time such as La Gazette du BonTon, Vanity Fair, Vogue, etc. Today Marty’s works are highly collectible. This print is a classic image of swimmers enjoying a summer afternoon at the lake while others are leisurely relaxing on the shoreline with their picnic fare. This image showcases the style and forms of classic Art Deco design. It is perfect for the Art Deco connoisseur. The vintage print is in excellent condition. The image is signed by the artist on the upper right corner of the image. It is 9 ¼ x 11 inches in size. It is original to 1929 and NOT a recent reproduction. It is custom matted in a neutral 16 x 20 inch mat and works perfectly in a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
