This is a RARE French lingerie fashion pochoir that came from an unbound portfolio that dates to 1928. Pochoir is a stencil-based printing technique which was popular is Paris in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. It was used by fashion and architectural illustrators who hand colored, or hand illustrated their prints as was done with this print. The manual aspect of pochoir has been both one of its most valuable attributes and one of its greatest failures as a printing medium. It is both labor and time consuming, making it an expensive and slow process of printmaking. As a result, this technique was short lived and was replaced by more modern lithography techniques. Thus, pochoirs have become rare and have become highly collectible with the passage of time.

This image is highly stylized with Art Deco elements. Note the geometric graphic layout, the strong use of contrasting color, and of course the silhouette fashion design of the chemise. And please note the wonderful detailing of the lingerie with its dropped waistline styling. The side documentation refers to "Dentelle Alecon" which was known as the "Queen of lace".
